Real Good Times Club
The Real Good Times Club held at the Hub in Easterhouse in Glasgow is officially up and running, and by all accounts a hive of activity!
The club was founded after discussions with people we support in Glasgow and the Divisional Manager, Yvonne MacKenzie. It was quickly established that the people we support wanted more interaction with their local community and to be in control of their social activities during the evenings.
The club is run by and for the club members themselves. People meet up every Monday Night to meet new friends, new and old to take part in activities and just have fun!
The Real Good Times logo was the winning design of Andrew Hewiston following a competition open to all club members.
David Millar, Creative Facilitator for Real Life Options, said:
“The best thing about the Real Good Times Club is the fact that ownership lies entirely with the club members, from deciding upon the activities, to what the logo looks like; I expect it to continue and grow long in to the future. The club is not exclusively open to people supported by Real Life Options, which opens up opportunities for people to be a involved within the wider community”
Recent activities include a Tex Mex – Country and Western Night. The activities included a Tex-Mex buffet and line dancing. A quiz show/bingo night with ‘Play Your Cards Right’ featuring Pat Reilly, Service Manager from Riddrie Services doing his Bruce Forsyth Impression, with David MacMillan winning the top prize.
A Baking Competition was also won by Robert Taylor, from the Riddrie Services, and an evening of Scottish dancing, arranged by Music in Hospitals was reported as a very successful and enjoyable evening.
