Bernice – Service Manager

RLO has always backed my training and development.  I must have cost them a fortune over the years. I’m worth it though."

I’m a Service Manager, based in Newcastle and Durham. I’ve worked for RLO for 17 years, joining fresh out of University. I’ve been managing services Bernicefor 12 years now.

I’ve stayed with RLO all that time because I believe so strongly in their core values, particularly that they always put people first. Our vision of a society in which disability is no barrier to people taking control of their lives is precisely my own. It's the message I run with everyday.  I try to keep it to the front of my mind in every task I do and every task I ask my teams to do.

It takes a lot of investment to take people through to the position of Service Manager - RLO has always backed my training and development.  I must have cost them a fortune over the years. I’m worth it though.

We don’t want to confine anyone to some tiny part of the world. We’re working to celebrate difference, to change preconceptions and to support active participation in all aspects of the communities in which the people we support live.

Recently, one of our services in Durham received official accreditation by the National Autistic Society.  It’s a real recognition of the work we’ve been doing, providing a seal of quality and peace of mind for people and families when choosing a service to support them.
